Aloha, I’m Vida Yap
I’m grateful to call the beautiful island of Maui, Hawaiʻi, home. I have worked in the addiction and mental health field since 2017. My path toward becoming a therapist was deeply influenced by clinical psychologist Dr. Richard Sword and his wife, Rosemary, whose encouragement helped inspire me to pursue this work.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with family, friends, and my animals, including birds, cats, and dogs. As a former marine biologist, I also have a deep connection to the ocean and find meaning in the beauty, strength, and sense of possibility it represents.
As a therapist, I believe our experiences, relationships, challenges,
and strengths shape how we understand ourselves and connect with others. When life feels overwhelming or uncertain, seeking support can be an important step toward meaningful change.
My approach to therapy is compassionate and collaborative. I’m not here to judge, rush, or “fix” you. Instead, I’ll work alongside you to better understand what may be holding you back, develop practical tools for navigating life’s challenges, and strengthen the resilience already within you.
My hope is to help you move toward greater clarity, connection, resilience, and stability, so you can live your life more fully and authentically.
